Antioch Computer Application Specialist (ACAS)
The Antioch Computer Applications Specialist Certificate Program provides individuals with a working knowledge of computer operating systems, word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, Internet technologies, graphic, presentation, and layout programs. In addition, courses cover management and presentation techniques using computer technology that give the specialist confidence in managing and an advantage when competing for jobs in today’s market. There are a total of 5 courses and 19 units.

Courses include:

Computer Concepts and Applications
A comprehensive introduction to the use of computers and the concepts which underlie their use and application. All students will learn word processing and either data base or spreadsheet applications. An examination of the use of computers in our society and their impact on the culture. The course is a combination of classroom lecture/discussion and lab experience. 3.0 Units

Web Page Design
A course in web page design that teaches the fundamentals of the programming language, HTML. Students learn how to prepare web pages and use design elements such as fonts, images, tables, and frames. 4.0 Units

Impact Presentation Technique – Using
Computer Technology
This course teaches students how to produce effective computer-assisted business presentations incorporating multimedia and multi-programs. The multimedia components will include video clips, special effects, animation, charts (organizational, data, and 3-D), morphing, pictures (from clip art to fine art), slide builds and transitions, word art, character maps, notes, and hand out sheets. The multi-programs elements will include Object Linking and Embedding (OLE), branching, and binding. The fundamental elements of effective presentation design are taught. 4.0 Units



Marketing on the Internet and Current Technologies
The course focuses on understanding marketing as it applies to the Internet. Covering the latest developments in design, production, and technology trends for constructing and maintaining Web sites. Providing a vital overview of what is involved in setting up and maintaining a commercial-quality Internet presence. 4.0 Units


Management in Computer Applications
A course that incorporates, word processing, databases, project management, spreadsheet application, graphic, and layout programs as effective management tools. The course will take the students to an advanced user level from which they can effectively manage and teach others. Students will also learn the fundamentals of management. 4.0 Units
