Rationale for Research Methodology

My research consisted of these methods:

1. Searching the web for statistics on computers and their growing impact on society

2. Visiting the web sites of UCSB, SBCC, Arizona State, and other colleges that offer certification programs

3. Reviewing several computer magazines and newspaper articles at the library for supporting material.

4. Calling employers, personnel services, and a few colleagues

5. Reading books with lesson plans designed for the computer

6. Calling computer retailers and pricing the cost of computers for an instructional lab

7. Developing a research survey for current students at Antioch.

It is my objective to develop a useful program that helps the students who attend Antioch have the ability to get a better job based on their understanding of the computer. It is also my objective for Antioch to continue to grow and offer students the skills today’s market demands. By doing this it is my belief that Antioch will become a more marketable entity in Santa Barbara and generate the student body required to support this program. To this end I have done research that I feel is required to meet these objectives. I have also done the research to achieve the goal set forth in my contract. In doing so I used techniques I have learned in research classes at Antioch to provide unbiased results. I of course want my research to support my theories but I have presented all the facts and sources of my research regardless of the outcome.
